Oh so delicious! The tamale cakes are wonderful and I got the London fog which was also so good. Layout of the restaurant could be better but there's only so much you can do in a rowhome. Definitely worth the cramp space!
This place is a real jewel in Baltimore City. I was sharing a quesadilla with a coworker from this restaurant previously. So I decided that on my lunch break to drop in myself. I had a turkey burger and some fries. The toppings were so fresh and the portion size was huge. I really like the fact that they are environmentally conscious and recycle. In a few block radius there aren't that many food choices in this area but this is a real treat. I will continue to visit this establishment.
Was packed for the lunch time, so popular in the neighborhood. Sandwich was hugh!
Great place to eat and just chill with friends. Their burgers are noteworthy. A little pricey. It's about a $$ on the price scale. Worth a visit. Enjoy
On the Hill Cafe is the real deal... clearly! As one of their many return customers, I feel compelled to share that I find their food delicious, menu inspired, service friendly and ambience peaceful. It is a rare moment when you are successfully tempted to order multiple items and smile due to the absence of buyer's remorse! Carry on, please.
The burger I had was really good. The fries would have been better if they had been hot.
Great place to eat and just relax with friends. Their burgers are noteworthy. A little pricey. Worth a visit. Enjoy
This spot obviously knows how to satisfy their customers. Constantly with a very kind demeanor. The food is conveniently priced, always delightful and clean.
Oh my the burrito I got was to die for. Excellent food selection. I love that this is a farm to table restaurant. I see some negative reviews about the staff which definitely wasn't my experience. I will be back soon to try more and will update my review if my experience is vastly different. At the very least it is a really cute cafe, clearly popular since you have to fight for a table and the food is delicious!
If you want to support your local business, this is the place to go. The burgers are REALLY GOOD and the pork sandwich, "the Mosher", is comparable to a pork sandwich you'd get in Philly. Prices are just a bit high but it's in a nice neighborhood so what can you expect.
Pretty good coffee in a too-small shop with a design that accentuates the crowding. Some food available, though it's tough to enjoy a meal with people hovering for a seat or just to stay in line to order. Note: Good bagels run out early as a rule. Not many reasonable options in the area for a quick cup or to chat with someone, so it likely will remain popular. The workers are brisk and efficient. Give them a tip.
It was relaxing and there was a nice amount of sunlight shining as I drink my peppermint tea.
Love these guys! Great coffee and a great space, and the food is very reasonable
Lovely place, good fresh food.
Great atmosphere and even better food!
Small, crowded, we had to sit outside when we visited but the weather was pleasant and we enjoyed being outside. Nice variety of food, I had a vegetarian burrito which was excellent.
Wide variety of espresso drinks. Healthy and hearty foods. Order at counter or call it in. Not a lot of indoor seating, but outdoor tables in good weather. Close to MICA.
TLDR: Wait time incredibly long for cafe sandwich, and sandwich not very good. Wait time for a simple sandwich was 30 mins. There were 3 employees working: 1 cooking, and the other two mostly standing around occasionally taking orders. Considering the wait times, that is backwards. By the time i was given my food, the yucca fries were soggy. The sandwich had a way too much lettuce, and the thinnest slice of cheese imaginable. The bread was not even toasted.
This place is hands down for me myself the best bacon cheese burger
Great little cafe. Eclectic food choices. Vegetarian options. Delicious deserts. Charming indoor and outdoor areas.
This is a great indie coffee shop. In addition to the standard pastries that you would expect, they are a full restaurant with burgers and other hot food choices. I stop by whenever I am in the neighborhood.
I have been getting take out from cafe on the hill for the past two years and the burgers have been a great deal for the amount of food you get. I was very sad to see them closed when COVID started. I was so excited that they have opened again but was leery of a new menu. However, the new food items are delicious! Love the burgers (smaller but still good value). I had spiral cut fries which were some of the best fries I have had in quite a while! The plantains are great too. Our most recent order had hot and crispy regular fries (very delicious) but we did miss the spirals.
Excellent food...pleasant atmosphere. Staff very nice & very helpful. L___aka Tuna melt was everything!! 😊 (Roc A.)
This is my new favorite place. I go for the lemonade and sometimes I get a bite to eat. I highly recommend the Mosher with a coconut lemonade.
I love these finds! This place is amazing! Small breakfast shop with excellent food and service. Bathrooms clean and ambiance cozy. Definitely worth checking out!
Tamale cakes. I come from NYC to visit friends once a year and I make sure to go here at least twice a trip for tamale cakes. They're amazing. I've tried other menu items and are great as well...but those tamale cakes....
Best coffeehouse on Bolton Hill. Muffins baked in-house every night. Good food. Competent friendly staff.
They would've received 5 stars, except their specialty coffee machine was broken. That being said, their regular coffee was exceptional, customer service was great, ambiance was everything I look for in a true coffee drinker's local cafe. Prices were reasonable.
Good coffee and food as well, and a very cosy place.
Had the pleasure of visiting my amazing Daughter at her College during a beautiful Autumn Weekend in Baltimore! After she gave me the tour of the MICA campus, she insisted that I join her for a Coffee/Tea at her favorite lunch spot "On The Hill!" I found the Café to be very charming and absolutely loved my coffee. The staff was very nice and engaging. They have many delicious specialty Teas & hot drinks as well as sandwiches, burritos & burgers on the menu. They even have Rice & Beans and fantastic "Plantains!" Stop by, sit inside or grab a sidewalk table, order away and enjoy!
On the Hill Cafe stands out for it's consistent product. Unlike most places, they use grass fed beef, this sets them apart from any burger joint in the area. They always have fresh baked goods and quick service.
Great burgers, nice service staff, and cool decor (it's in a old rowhouse of sorts). On the downside, seating is tight, so you might have to hover a little bit to snag a seat from a brooding art student. Great neighborhood spot!
Usually love OTH and always get their burgers. Was excited to hear that they re-opened a few days ago. But honestly, the food was disappointing. The burger was overcooked and dry, also weirdly the buns were very squished down. Fries were limp too. Not anywhere close to being as good as before unfortunately. Not really worth it.
Great location, excellent place for MICA students on their way to class or for meeting up, etc. Lost a star because the food is getting increasingly expensive for less quantity. Fewer and fewer people can afford to go here as much as I'm sure they'd like to, but it is a treat to come in and get their Smokey Burger, Rutter Burrito or Tamale Cakes once in a while (my favorites, I recommend!).
Ordered the lox on a bagel for pickup. The lox & other ingredients inside seemed fresh and of good quality. But the main issue was the bagel (which for a bagel with lox & cream cheese is a large part of the order) - the bagel was small, as though it was purchased from a store but, more importantly, it was either frozen and never properly warmed up or it was beyond stale because the bagel was like 2 hockey pucks. They were near inedible. I took one bite and had to transfer all of the inside ingredients to some bread I had on hand, it was so bad. $10 for a sandwich in which I had to reconstruct/replace the bagel. All in all, I would skip the bagel or anything that comes with a bagel.Reply to the response from the owner: If the quality that I received was what you can provide, I would highly suggest taking it off the menu entirely, or reducing your prices to compensate.
Coffee is ok. Food is greatl!
One of my favourite cafes, simply wonderful and excellent service. Look forward to coming back.
Great tasting grass fed burger with white cheddar & fries! Definitely worth the stop 😊
Such a wonderful corner cafe. Fantastic food, excellent coffee beverages, and pastries to die for. Can often be overrun with art students, but ignore their hippy-like disposition and grab a table outside.
The best, any time of the day. A diverse menu and a friendly staff.
Delicious breakfast sandwiches with gluten free options. Bacon was meaty and cooked to perfection. Even though it was busy on a Saturday morning, we waited less than five minutes for our order. Great for takeout which is wrapped in foil and paper bags rather than styrofoam and plastic, YAY!
I’ve popped in for a few orders, positively ecstatic about cafe salads, too, quesadilla menu item. Prefer take away albeit it is rather quaint for a read or cheeky chats. Carry on, OHT Bolton.
Great coffee & sandwiches in Bolton Hill near MICA. I've had the cumin- crusted pork; this time it was the plantain, queso, & avocado arepa. Yum!
Great experience. Nice people and great food!
Best coffee in Baltimore! Their lattes are so good that I don’t even need to add sugar. Amazing sandwiches, burgers. A warm and welcoming spot!
On the outside it is very cute coffee shop and it had amazing reviews so I decided to try it on my travels. Unfortunately the moment I walked in, the cashier/server was not friendly at all. He also left out options I could have with my order. A bit snobby. The coffee and bagel was ehh...and it had greasy butter on it instead of serving it on the side. Overall, the coffee shop and its staff just had an unwelcoming energy I felt and will not be going back. Will go back to Baby's on Fire..lovely coffeeshop with amazing inviting energy and great coffee about 5 min away.!!
The coffee and service is just right!
On the hill cafe has the best fries, hands down! The service is good and although many times I wasn't allowed inside because I'm a minor, I would definitely figure out a new way to go.
It's a tiny gem near MICA. The black bean burgers are as good as their coffee selection. It will be a stop on my Baltimore trips.
This was not an easy find but personally, people should be flocking to this corner store. the cafe is not the biggest but flavor-wise and selection is perfection. they have options for all vegans, meat-eaters, health enthusiasts, and the sweet tooth. The cafe even has some ethnic dishes that I didn't expect to find. This is a place you should out on your radar for some spectacular lunch.
